Non-Pittsburgh Sports Moment of the Day

Every day during this time of social distancing, we've been bringing you a Pittsburgh Sports Moment of the Day to help combat the sadness that comes with no sports during these crazy times. I've also been posting a non-Pittsburgh Sports Moment of the Day as well, something memorable that is not directly related to Pittsburgh sports.

On this day in 2006, UCLA and Gonzaga met in the Sweet 16 in a game that featured seven guys who would go on to play in the NBA. One of those seven was Gonzaga's own Adam Morrison, who was famous for his oversized undershirts and goofy facial hair. He was also a dang good basketball player, named Co-Player of the Year along with Duke's JJ Redick.

Gonzaga had a nine point lead late, before UCLA was able to come back in the final minute and shock the Bulldogs. Gus Johnson on the call:

Adam Morrison would go on to be the third overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, and win back-to-back NBA Championships with Kobe and the Lakers in 2009-2010. But the image of him collapsing to the court in sadness after this game was always the most enduring moment of his basketball career.
