Why would Mike Tomlin pay James Harrison to hurt Mohamed Massaquoi?

In 2010, Steelers OLB James Harrison laid a vicious hit on Browns WR Mohamed Massaquoi. Harrison was fined 75,000 dollars for the hit.

On a recent podcast, James Harrison strongly implied that Mike Tomlin handed him an envelope filled with cash to help pay for his fine.

I find this hard to believe. James Harrison has an ax to grind with Tomlin given how their relationship fell apart in 2017.

It also just wouldn't make sense for Mike Tomlin to pay Harrison to hurt a player of Massaquoi's caliber. The only reason you even know the name Mohamed Massaquoi is because James Harrison hit him. He was just a guy.

Paying a player to hurt another player is barbaric. Greg Williams and Sean Payton were punished by the NFL for bountygate. They should have been. If a shred of REAL evidence comes out that proves Harrison's assertion, then yes, Mike Tomlin should be punished.

That won't happen. There is no evidence.

Mike Tomlin is a really smart guy, and one of the most measured men that I've ever spent time with. I don't think he'd have been stupid enough to have James Harrison hurt some average receiver and then pay him for it. It doesn't add up.
