ESPN and the NBA are currently working on plans for a televised H-O-R-S-E competition where players would compete from their own home gyms.
I know that people would watch this. It’s a good way to get inside the personalities of some of these athletes.
Hey, it’s something to watch. It’s something to bet on. Maybe it’s something to look forward to in order to break up the routine?
Not for me. I want sports back. Not sports-adjacent. Not sports-like.
It’s like somebody handing me an O’Douls. I mean, I’ll drink it. But it’s not the real thing.
It sure is the trend right now. Give the people something, anything sports-like to watch.
NASCAR has gotten into the simulation game. It doesn’t do it for me. I watched Mike Vick lose by 100 points to Derwin James in Madden. It was on Fox Sports 1. Eh. ESPN is about to broadcast 12 hours of eSports.
Hell, I’m not even into watching the old games on AT&T Sports Net or ESPN. It actually makes me sad. I long for normalcy.
ESPN, Fox, and AT&T Sports Net are doing what they have to do. They need viewers. People need something to watch.
It just doesn’t do it for me.
I’ve got a Stanley Cup Playoffs shaped hole in my heart and it can’t be filled by some cheap imitator.
