The tie goes to Tristan Jarry

I've gone on record and said that the Pens should alternate goaltenders until one of the two pulls away.

What if that doesn't happen?

Sure, Tristan Jarry is an All-Star and has had the better season to date, but lately both goalies have had nearly identical statistics.

In 2020, Tristan Jarry has a save percentage of .907 while Matt Murray's is .909.

If neither goalie separates himself before the postseason, I think the tie should go to Tristan Jarry. His numbers have been better overall this year, and more importantly, he's a better puck handler/mover. In a physical series against the Capitals or Islanders aggressive forecheck, you need an extra option to help break the puck out.

Matt Murray is a two-time Stanley Cup Champion, and the Pens wouldn't have made the playoffs last year without Murray's 9-3-3 record in March. Thing is, I'm not interested in the past. I'm interested in who would give the Penguins the best chance to win NOW.

Maybe one of the two outplays the other down the stretch. If that happens, then give the victor the net. If neither player grabs the job by the throat, then Mike Sullivan should let Jarry start game one of the playoffs.
