The Penguins fourth line isn't very good right now.
I understand that Sam Lafferty scored a huge goal against the Washington Capitals. The contributions of the Galchenyuk/Lafferty/Angello line have been few and far between.
The Penguins aren't going to beat the Lightning by getting down 2-0 early and going 0/5 on the power play. This is obvious. They also aren't going to beat teams like Tampa/Boston/Washington in a seven game series if they aren't able to roll four lines.
Last night, the Lafferty line was on the ice for the first goal of the hockey game. Galchenyuk played just 5:10, and that lead the fourth line in TOI.
This, of course, is more due to injury than anything else.
The Pens have a chance to have four solid lines when they're healthy, but until then, it's a problem.
Should the Pens get healthy, and make a trade to bring in a top-six winger, the lineup will be deep:
Trade acquisition/Crosby/Simon
Kahun/Malkin/Rust
McCann/Bjugstad/Hornqvist
ZAR/Blueger/Tanev
Right now, though? The fourth line just isn't cutting it.
