I was concerned that Devlin Hodges performance against the Cleveland Browns wasn't one that could translate over a multiple game stretch. I wanted to see Devlin Hodges "matriculate the ball down the field" and sustain drives. He did that on Sunday.
In this game we saw drives of 13 plays, 8 plays, and 10 plays that all resulted in points. We saw a 22-yard scramble. We saw a tremendous touchdown pass to Diontae Johnson that took balls and precision. We saw a scramble turned completion on third and 13 to take some time off the clock at the end of the game.
Hodges was the perfect combination of playmaker and caretaker. He took what the defense was giving him almost every damn time.
He never threw a pass that I deemed to be dangerous and he only tossed three incompletions.
Hodges doesn't have the strongest arm and he isn't the biggest guy. He's got moxie, though. Couple that with the Steelers defense and you just may have a playoff team.
