The 2019 Steelers, much like last season's version, are looking for an offensive identity.
James Conner made the Pro Bowl last year. He only played 46 percent of the Steelers snaps on Sunday night. That's not enough. Pittsburgh ran for 2.5 yards per carry.
The Steelers were stuffed four times on third or fourth and short. Fullback Roosevelt Nix didn't play a single offensive snap. That's absurd.
Vance McDonald, someone that I was counting on to make up some of AB's lost production, had two catches for 40 yards. Both of those catches came late in the fourth quarter when the game was already out of reach.
Meanwhile, Donte Moncrief was targeted 10 times, had three catches, and four drops. Great. Got to get that guy the football!!
Ryan Switzer, the epitome of "just a guy," played 67 percent of the offensive snaps.
The Steelers are supposed to have one of the best offensive lines in the league. They have a Pro Bowl running back. They've got a great fullback. Yet, they throw the ball in critical situations to Moncrief and Switzer?
The Steelers don't have Antonio Brown. We know this. But, the weapons they chose to feature in game one aren't as good as the other dudes that they have.
