Pop superstar Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce are not engaged, despite rumors claiming otherwise.

"It’s not true and the recent erratic and unfounded speculation on this couple is just proving that media and overzealous fans do not know what’s going on with them and shouldn’t make wild assumptions based on zero facts," a source close to the couple told TMZ. "Two days ago everyone had decided they were broken up, now they’re allegedly secretly engaged? It’s whiplash-inducing."

The clarification came after Pro Football Hall of Famer turned Monday Night Football analyst Troy Aikman accidentally referred to Swift as "the Mrs." when ESPN's broadcast of the Chiefs game against the New Orleans Saints showed the singer celebrating her boyfriend's first down catch late in the second quarter. Aikman then addressed the on-air flub during an appearance on the popular Barstool Sports podcast Pardon My Take and claimed that "someone actually reached out to me" and said "they might actually be engaged, so I might've broken the story."

Aikman said he was sure he was going to be "in trouble for saying that" after making the on-air flub during the Monday Night Football broadcast, which his colleague, Joe Buck, linked to fellow former Dallas Cowboys quarterback turned CBS analyst Tony Romo having done on multiple occasions during the 2023 season.

Swift attended Kelce's game for the first time since Week 2, having missed the Chiefs' last two road games, which have reportedly coincided with preparation for the relaunch of her 'Eras Tour' later this month. Kelce recorded a season-best nine receptions for 70 yards, coming off a seven-catch, 89-yard performance in Week 4, following an uncharacteristic slump to start the season.

The Chiefs defeated the Saints, 26-13, to improve to 5-0, joining the Minnesota Vikings as the only remaining undefeated NFL teams through the first five games of the 2024 season.
