Braddock Community Day

Braddock Community Day Marks Opening of Civic Plaza on August 11, 2018

From 11am-9pm enjoy food trucks, performances, a skate park, and a parade · Vending opportunities currently available

Braddock is rebuilding and rebranding itself one motivated resident at a time. On August 11th people from Braddock and beyond are coming together in celebration of a new green space on the corner of Braddock Ave and Fourth Street. From 11am – 9pm enjoy live music from local musicians, comedians, a fitness class, and even a skate park. There will be something for everyone from ages 5 to 55.

August 11th won't be just any community day. It's a celebration of a rebirth. After UPMC's departure from the town, residents were asked what they envisioned for the vacant space. First came the Overlook with its beautiful housing and residents spoke up and mentioned the idea of a space where people could gather in the name of community. This collaboration of community paired with the vision already set forth by Overlook developers, created what will forever be known as The Braddock Civic Plaza. This 1.1 acres of green space is equipped with WI-Fi, tables and chairs, a beautiful stairway, and eight spaces for food trucks to pull up and serve their customers. This is the first of many events to take place at The Civic Plaza. Community Day marks a pivotal moment for the community. They will be celebrating each other and the spirit of a town that is a strong as the steel that came from it.

Anyone interested in vending at this monumental event should reach out to Chardaejones@live.com for an application. Applications are being accepted until August 4, 2018.

About Braddock: Braddock is a small town on the eastern side of Pittsburgh within Allegheny County. Home to a little over 2,200 people, the borough is known for its steel mill, its mayor, and recently its rebirth. Braddock can be whatever it wants to be and it seems like residents are not only excited for that change but willing to lead that change.
